As a Financial Controller in Finance, you might get the chance to work on:

  • Leading the preparation and submission of CQC’s Annual Report and Accounts, including working with auditors and supporting the process of laying accounts before Parliament.
  • Improving how CQC manages and reports on different funding streams, helping the organisation meet public finance rules and strengthen long‑term financial planning.

The role
You’ll play an important part in delivering our mission. In this role, you’ll:

  • Strengthen financial control: Maintain and improve financial processes, systems and policies to ensure compliance with standards, audits and public finance rules.
  • Lead financial accounting services: Oversee core accounting functions such as statutory reporting, treasury activity, income forecasting and balance sheet management.
  • Support people and performance: Lead and develop a high‑performing finance team, setting clear goals, supporting learning, and ensuring delivery against agreed plans.

We’ll be looking for specific skills, knowledge and experience in your application:

  • Professional accounting expertise: Experience working as a qualified accountant, with responsibility for statutory accounts and financial control in a complex organisation.
  • Leading finance operations: Experience managing end‑to‑end financial accounting activities, using finance systems to deliver accurate reporting and meet deadlines.
  • Working with others: Experience working with senior leaders, auditors or external partners to explain financial information and agree actions or improvements.
