This is a great opportunity to join our Business Systems Team as a Financial Systems Officer, supporting the smooth running of key financial processes across our ERP environment. You’ll be part of a team that provides shared services to multiple partner councils, working in a space that’s busy, collaborative, and constantly evolving.

In this role, you’ll support the day‑to‑day operational work that keeps our financial systems accurate, compliant, and well‑controlled. From running reconciliations to preparing audit evidence and resolving queries in Halo, you’ll be right at the heart of ensuring our financial data is reliable and our users get the support they need.

If you enjoy problem‑solving, like getting into the detail, and feel proud delivering work to a high standard, this could be a brilliant next step for you.

    Our benefits

    What will you be doing?

As a Financial Systems Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting the financial integrity of our ERP systems. Your day will be varied and will include tasks such as:

    • Carrying out regular financial reconciliations — including bank accounts, control accounts and system‑to‑system reconciliations
    • Investigating discrepancies or issues and gathering the information needed to resolve them
    • Preparing clear, accurate audit working papers and supporting both internal and external audit requests
    • Responding to helpdesk tickets in Halo, ensuring users receive timely, professional and well‑documented support
    • Supporting testing activities, annual routines, and one‑off improvement projects led by the compliance team
    • Producing and maintaining user‑friendly documentation and guidance
    • Working closely with colleagues across Business Systems and other service areas to ensure processes run smoothly
    • Identifying opportunities for improvements to systems, data flows, and ways of working

You’ll be joining a team that genuinely works together, supports each other, and values accuracy, good communication, and a positive attitude.

    About you

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re someone who enjoys structure, understands the importance of accuracy, and isn’t afraid to ask questions or dive into the detail. We’re not looking for someone who knows everything already — what matters most is your approach to work, your willingness to learn, and your ability to stay organised.

    Here’s what we’re looking for:

    • A methodical, detail‑driven working style
    • Good analytical skills and confidence working with numbers
    • Experience with financial reconciliations or similar processes
    • A positive, customer‑focused approach to supporting users
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    • The ability to prioritise your workload and manage deadlines
    • Intermediate Excel skills (you don’t need to be an expert — just comfortable)
    • Experience using an ERP system is helpful, but not essential if you’re willing to learn
    • A team mindset — someone who likes contributing, sharing knowledge, and supporting colleagues

If you take pride in getting things right, enjoy problem‑solving, and want to develop within financial systems and compliance, we’d love to hear from you.
