Fitness Consultant (Casual)

We are looking to recruit a hardworking Fitness Consultant to join the team at Wakefield Council on a casual basis. Casual staff help cover holidays and sickness and can pick up hours around other commitments. This opportunity is available across all of our Wakefield Council’s Leisure facilities.

The job includes delivery of our customer journey, including inductions, personal fitness programmes and generally supporting our service users with their health and wellbeing goals. Alongside this other task that are completed include maintenance, cleaning and ensuring correct health and safety standards are met within the gym environment. Supervision of the fitness suites with WMDC facilities is a key aspect of the role to ensure exercise is being completed in a safe and effective manner. In addition to this it is beneficial if you already hold qualifications and experience of group exercise classes as contributing to this delivery across our extensive group programme is required. Some of the classes on our programme include Zumba, aqua classes, Yoga, Pilates, Les Mills classes (Body Pump and Body Combat), High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), studio cycling, circuit or boxing based classes.

Candidates must have excellent customer service skills, be able to engage with a range of customers and actively promote services delivered by Wakefield Council such as the Aspire membership scheme. We are looking for candidates who possess the correct personal skills, enthusiasm and motivation to excel in the role.

You will need to be well organised be able to adapt quickly and think on your feet whilst delivering outstanding service to a range of people. The right attitude, a passion for health and fitness and good communications skills are essential in the role.

You will need to hold a minimum of a level 2 Gym/Fitness Instructor qualification which is endorsed by the relevant governing body such as REPS or CIMSPA.

DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service)

The successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure Application Form and to provide criminal conviction information.

Probation

In accordance with the Council Probation Procedure, this post is subject to a 6-month Probationary Period.

Fluency Duty

To comply with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), public facing roles will be subject to the Fluency Duty.
