Fitness Instructors

We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and customer focused Fitness Instructors to join our team.

As a Fitness Instructor, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming, motivating and safe fitness environment for our members and customers.

You will be visible and approachable on the gym floor, providing customers with advice and support, delivering inductions and fitness programmes, maintaining excellent standards and helping people of all abilities feel confident when using our facilities.

As a Fitness Instructor, you will:

• Provide a friendly, professional and welcoming experience for members and customers.

• Maintain a visible and proactive presence on the gym floor.

• Engage with customers and help create a positive and motivational fitness environment.

• Deliver high quality gym inductions, fitness assessments and exercise programmes.

• Provide appropriate exercise guidance based on customers' individual goals, abilities and experience.

• Demonstrate the safe and effective use of fitness equipment.

• Monitor customers using the gym and provide appropriate advice and support.

• Promote safe exercise techniques and encourage responsible use of equipment.

• Carry out regular checks of the gym and fitness equipment.

• Report equipment defects and maintenance concerns promptly.

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation throughout fitness areas.

• Support the delivery of fitness challenges, campaigns and member engagement activities.

• Where appropriately qualified, deliver group exercise classes or other fitness sessions.

• Respond professionally to customer enquiries, feedback and concerns.

• Follow the centre's health and safety, safeguarding, emergency and operating procedures.

• Support Duty Managers and other colleagues with the wider operation of the centre when required.

• Help create an inclusive environment where customers of all ages, abilities and fitness levels feel welcome.

• Be confident providing fitness advice and demonstrating exercises.

• Be able to motivate and encourage customers with different levels of fitness experience.

• Understand the importance of maintaining a safe gym environment.

• Have a professional and responsible approach to your work.

• Be able to work independently as well as part of a wider leisure team.

• Take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and well presented fitness environment.

• Be reliable, punctual and organised.

• Be flexible and able to work shifts, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Applicants should ideally have:

• A recognised Level 2 Gym/Fitness Instructor qualification or equivalent.

• A good understanding of exercise techniques and safe use of fitness equipment.
• First Aid Qualification

• Knowledge of health and safety within a fitness environment.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Additional qualifications such as Level 3 Personal Training, Group Exercise, Exercise Referral or other specialist fitness qualifications would be advantageous.

Previous experience working within a gym, leisure centre or customer facing fitness environment would be beneficial.
