Job Title: Food Safety Support Officer
Location of work: Town Hall, Reigate
Salary: £28,110 - £29,355 (dependent on experience)
Basis: Full Time, Fixed Term Contract for 12 months
About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Food Safety Support Officer to provide dedicated administrative and basic technical support to the Food team within the Environmental Health service. This role is offered as a 12 month fixed term position.
Some duties include:
• Data entry, scanning and indexing documents to record the findings of inspections and interventions.
• Supporting the maintenance of accurate case and premises file records.
• Processing new food business registrations.
• Supporting with simple service requests, including the provision of basic advice and signposting to customers and assisting with the management of the food team email account.
For candidates with relevant food safety or environmental health qualifications or experience, this may also include opportunities to develop practical experience in food safety and hygiene regulation, while undertaking basic technical duties.
About the Person:
• Previous administrative experience, including the use of databases and document management systems.
• Strong organisational skills, able to follow procedures accurately, with keen attention to detail.
• Strong IT skills to support the maintenance of accurate case and premises file records.
• Great communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Ideally, some knowledge of the nature and scope of food safety work within the context of environmental health.
