Salary: £33,546 - £36,886 Inclusive of London Weighting and Contractual hours payment

Contractual Hours: 37 hours per week

Hours of Work/Work Pattern: 1st April – 31st September Mon – Thurs 08:00 – 16:30 with a 30min unpaid lunch, Fri – 08:00 – 15:30 with a 30min unpaid lunch. 1st October-31st March Mon – Thurs 08:00 – 16:00 with a 30min unpaid lunch break, Fri 08.00 – 13.00 with a 30min unpaid lunch

About Us

The City of London Corporation manages 11,000 acres (approximately 4,500 hectares) of land in and around London that is enjoyed by over 16 million visitors annually. Whilst there are small pockets of land within the Square Mile, the majority can be found elsewhere in London and the surrounding counties. The City Corporation acts as Trustee of 10 charities which, through their various objects, are responsible for the preservation in perpetuity of a large proportion of these award-winning open spaces.

The role

Gardeners are dynamic public open space management professionals who draw upon a horticultural knowledge base and skill set to help ensure that our public green spaces remain open, accessible, safe, and beautiful. Gardeners play a vital role in overseeing the day-to-day care of our gardens, parks and open spaces, conserving them for future generations, and ensuring that they remain places of pride for the City Corporation and the communities that surround and use them.

The ideal Candidate

You will have a full clean driving licence. You have a good understanding of Health & Safety within a work environment. You have the relevant certification and experience to operate machinery and tools. You will have demonstrable experience working in a fast-paced open spaces environment. You have good communication skills, can follow company policies and procedures, and provide accurate updates to your line manager both written and verbal. You show initiative and work well in a team. You are flexible, calm under pressure and have a can-do approach to working outdoors.
