This role is based within the Insight Community OPD Service and the Evolve Intensive Intervention Risk Management Service (IIRMs).
Applications are welcomed from experienced Band 4 Probation Officers with post qualifying experience.

Desirable candidates would have experience of working and supervising POPs assessed as High/Very High risk of serious harm and a diverse range of people who have experienced a range of social/personal difficulties and the need to use tact and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.

The OPD strategy provides co-commissioned services funded by the NHS and HMPPS. Within Greater Manchester the Insight & Evolve teams comprise of Probation Service and National Health Service colleagues including psychologists and other health professionals. We jointly provide services to improve outcomes for POPs who present with personality difficulties and meet the OPD screening criteria.
The Insight team contributes to the effective risk management for complex high-risk cases and provides Probation Practitioners (PPs) and Approved Premises staff with services including, screening, consultations, formulations, joint case work, training, reflective practice and other workforce development activity. The aim is to support effective risk management and improve outcomes for those with PD issues.
The Evolve IIRMs team provides an intervention service for adult offenders who meet the service criteria. The service is based on the growing theory and evidence base for working with individuals whose difficulties are in their personalities, who often have complex trauma and adversity in childhood, and whose behaviours include a repeated risk of significant harm to others. It aims to offer an integrated psychologically and socially informed intensive intervention and risk management, in partnership with service users’ and Probation Practitioners. The aim of this service is, through individually tailored work, to support service users attain more sustainable community living that has a positive impact on their wellbeing and reduces their risk of harm to others.
The Probation Officer role will involve working directly with individuals in service to build strong, trusting, attachment-based relationships with people whilst in custody, providing support upon release and then up to 18 months post release. Developing and maintaining links and working relationships with community partners will be essential.

• PQF Honours Degree/Graduate Diploma and Level 5 Diploma in Probation
Practice; or
• Diploma in Probation Studies; or Diploma in Social Work (Probation option); or CQSW (Probation option).
