Green Infrastructure Manager (Temporary – Maternity Cover)

The Council is seeking to recruit a full-time, temporary Green Infrastructure Manager to provide maternity cover from 1 August 2026 to 31 August 2027.

We are looking for an experienced manager to lead the Green Infrastructure Team. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring the Council meets its statutory duties in relation to council-owned trees and Public Rights of Way, as well as protecting our network of Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs), valued landscape features, built heritage, ecology, and wider green infrastructure assets.

The role will also ensure a robust approach to health and safety risk management, particularly in relation to council-owned trees. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice to the Development Management team and applicants on tree, landscape, built heritage, ecology, and green infrastructure matters. This includes legal responsibilities relating to planning applications, such as tree works applications.

The Green Infrastructure Manager will lead the development and implementation of the Council’s Ecological Emergency Action Plan, including several major projects, and contribute to the delivery of the Council’s Climate Emergency Action Plan.

Applicants should be qualified to degree level and have at least five years’ experience in the management of Green Infrastructure or related services.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong budget, project, and performance management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience of working effectively with elected members and residents
