Salary:
£24,186 - £25,782 per annum
Basis:
Permanent, Full time, Annualised Hours (40hrs summer, 8 months / 27hrs winter, 4 months)

About the Role

Do you love working in the outdoors? Then this is the job is for you. We are now recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Gardener to join our Greenspaces team.

Working within a small team carrying out routine ground maintenance operations in our parks and open spaces, including the maintenance of flower beds, shrubs, trees, and lawns through regular planting, pruning, mowing, watering, and weeding. You will be required to use a ride on mowers, strimmer’s and hedge cutters and have a good understanding of grounds maintenance operations.

Some of the duties include:

  • Maintain flower beds, shrubs, trees, and lawns through regular planting, pruning, mowing, watering, and weeding.
    Assist with landscaping projects, planting schemes, and biodiversity initiatives.
  • Operate a range of horticultural machinery and tools.
  • Carry out routine inspections of park features, reporting any damage or safety concerns.
  • Support in the delivery of the council’s biodiversity, conservation, and sustainability objectives.

About the Person

  • Experience in horticulture, grounds maintenance, or similar roles.
  • Qualification in the use of grounds maintenance machinery.
  • Relevant horticultural qualification.
  • Experience using ride on machinery.
  • Have good knowledge of plant care, turf management, and seasonal gardening practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have a strong awareness of health and safety and safe working practices.
  • Be physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Salary range
