As Head of Building Control you will play a central role in delivering safe, compliant and high‑quality development across Liverpool. This is a role with real breadth, responsibility and influence.

    The role:

    • Leading on-site supervision of major construction schemes across the city
    • Managing and developing a multidisciplinary team of Registered Building Inspectors, trainees and structural engineers
    • Managing the service, shaping policy and leading on the service for local, regional and international events and meetings
    • Managing the implementation and enforcement of the Safety at Sports Grounds Act, covering all three major football stadiums within the Liverpool boundary
    • Working to increase the market share for Building Control and prepare competitive fee proposals
    • Representing Liverpool City Council as a senior technical expert during a period of major citywide investment and regeneration

    Our offer to you:

    • At least 31 days holiday, plus bank holidays rising to 35 after 5 years’ service (pro rata if part time) - option to purchase further days
    • Agile working (role dependent) - a “Flexibility First” approach to agile working, where flexibility is the norm rather than the exception
    • Part of the Local Government Pension Scheme – option to join the AVC Scheme
    • Progression - opportunities and training through a wide range of high quality learning
    • Health and Wellbeing - offer including Employee Assistance Programme
    • Cycle to Work and Travel Pass Schemes
    • Drive Time – a salary sacrifice car lease scheme
    • Family friendly policies with enhanced leave
    • Discounted Gym Memberships
    • Employee Volunteering Scheme
    • Medicash
