Job summary
The Head of Change leads the long‑term embedding of new ways of working, culture, values, and behaviours resulting from the global Finance Transformation (FTX). The role ensures the Finance organisation consistently operates in line with these principles while delivering high‑quality services. It also works closely with the People and Organisational Design team to strengthen change delivery capability and support a coordinated, enterprise‑wide approach across the British Council.Job description
The role is accountable for coordinating and delivering all change management activities within FTX, ensuring regions and countries are fully prepared to adopt new ways of working and realise the intended benefits. It ensures change plans are rigorously designed and executed to time, cost, and quality standards, while aligning with British Council policies and values. The role collaborates with the core transformation OD team to assess culture, capability, and alignment across Finance, tailoring change and communication approaches accordingly, and implements robust discovery and impact assessment processes that engage senior leaders. It maintains proactive stakeholder engagement, ensures coordination with other workstreams, manages the communication of key change messages globally, and oversees user familiarisation and training activities.Person specification
- Relevant experience related to the role.
- Strong experience of working in large scale organisational change on a Finance transformation programme involving significant people change.
- Strong experience of working in a programme environment.
- Building relationships at all levels of the organisation
- Excellent communication and relationship skills.
- Strong impact and presentation skills.
- Demonstrable understanding of the impact and management of people and organisational changes
- Change programme management knowledge or experience and use of recognised change management tools and interventions.
- Flexibility, independence, and initiative to perform successfully in a rapidly changing environment.
