Working within the Finance Operations and Systems team and reporting to the Assistant Director – Finance Operations, the Head of Finance Operations will play a critical role in shaping and delivering our strategic priorities. You’ll be part of a highly skilled and collaborative finance community committed to driving excellence in operational delivery, strengthening controls, and ensuring our services consistently support the ambitions of Homes England.

The Assistant Director is dedicated to delivering a high‑quality customer experience, resolving issues proactively, and encouraging innovation in how we approach finance operations. They believe in collaborative working and value diverse perspectives to support effective decision‑making, problem‑solving, and team development.
This is an opportunity to shape the future of Finance Operations in a fast‑growing national organisation with a clear social purpose. Working closely with senior leaders and the Finance Systems and Change team, you will ensure efficient, consistent and effective delivery of transactional services, while also contributing to wider organisational transformation and the development of modern, data‑enabled operations.
The role will lead the delivery and optimisation of key operational functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, insurance and lease car services. You will also help design and embed strategic improvements to processes, systems and data quality. There are ambitious and high‑impact projects underway, offering an excellent opportunity to balance business‑as‑usual leadership with delivering innovative solutions that enhance the Finance Operations offering.
Person specification
You’ll be comfortable supporting the Homes England Group with complex operational finance issues, providing clear advice and ensuring strong financial controls, compliance and governance. You will bring extensive experience in delivering efficient, accurate and customer‑focused finance operations. Proficiency in financial systems, data analysis, and reporting tools (including Power BI) will be essential.
Delivering on a mission as ambitious as ours requires resilience and confidence in managing relationships with senior stakeholders. Your recommendations will be shaped by a strong understanding of operational impact, risk, and the importance of robust financial data and processes. You will enjoy working in an innovative and engaging way and be able to influence, negotiate and communicate complex information clearly.
As an experienced Senior Leader, you will understand how to lead teams in a collaborative, inclusive and high‑performance environment. You’ll demonstrate your ability to motivate others, foster accountability, and support continuous improvement across processes, systems and team capabilities.
