We are the independent regulator for England’s seas, professionally delivering service-focussed outcomes for our customers.

We are a team of around 500 people and combine our Newcastle upon Tyne and London operations with a local presence around the English coastline in Brixham, Beverley, Harwich, Hastings, Lowestoft, North Shields, Hayle, Plymouth, Poole, Portsmouth, Preston, Scarborough, Shoreham, Whitehaven.

More information about our work is on the GOV.UK website and you can read the MMO’s Story here.

Job description

This is a really exciting time to join the MMO as we refresh our Strategy to recognise our key role in supporting the Government’s priorities for economic growth and clean energy whilst protecting the marine environment and its users.

This is a key role in the Marine Development Directorate, leading and managing the Marine Licensing service, Business Support and the Harbour Revision Orders (HRO) team, to deliver an excellent service to all.

Providing strong and supportive leadership, this post holder will be responsible for developing the capacity and capability within the team, role modelling the MMO values and ensuring effective and efficient service delivery in line with performance measures and targets to achieve excellent customer service

This FTA will provide cover for the Service Owner of Marine Licensing and Harbour Orders, to enable the development of a service strategy and for more focus to be given to the Marine Licensing and Planning Programme (MPLP). The Two posts will work closely with each other, with the Head of Service Delivery inputting to the development of the Marine Licensing service strategy and the MPLP, championing and socialising this work within the team and manage team resources to provide SME input as required.
