An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Health and Safety Team (Customer, Companies, Compliance and Assurance Service) for a Health and Safety Advisor.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is a place where everyone can Thrive – through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.

As a Health & Safety Adviser, you’ll play a key role in helping the Council meet its statutory health and safety duties. Providing practical advice, guidance, training and support to managers, employees, contractors and partner organisations, you’ll help create safe and healthy working environments across the borough.

You will take the lead for designated Directorates, supporting compliance with the Council’s Health & Safety and statutory compliance frameworks. The role includes monitoring and reporting on incidents, managing a caseload of health and safety reviews (including schools where required), and contributing to risk assessments and investigations.

We are looking for a proactive, confident and approachable professional who can build positive relationships and provide trusted advice to managers and colleagues at all levels. Housing sector experience and knowledge of SharePoint would be advantageous.

We are looking to appoint a qualified Health & Safety professional with a NEBOSH Diploma. Development candidates with the potential and commitment to meet all the essential criteria will also be considered. Salary range: Grade 9 progressing to a Grade 10 £38,220 – £48,072.

In return, you'll be helping to keep our people, workplaces, schools and communities safe while benefiting from 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, flexible working arrangements, and a comprehensive package of wellbeing, reward and development opportunities.

This is an agile role, offering flexibility to work from home, Council offices and other locations across Cheshire West and Chester as required.
