About the Team
The Lambeth Together Health and Wellbeing Bus Team provide accessible health advice, signposting, and health checks to residents across Lambeth, with a particular focus on communities experiencing health inequalities and unmet need. The programme operates within the Lambeth Public Health team in close partnership with the NHS.
This is an exciting time to join the team, as the NHS 10-year plan has a strong emphasis on community-based care and prevention, offering opportunities to align the programme with local neighbourhood priorities.
About the Role:
Lambeth’s Health and Wellbeing Bus programme began during the pandemic initially focused on delivering Covid support through information, vaccinations and test kits. In 2022 the offer was broadened to health and wellbeing in the borough through visiting communities to promote healthy lifestyles, signposting to health and community services as well as offering 1-1 sessions with trained advisors on both health topics and cost of living support.
The programme is now recruiting a part time Health and Wellbeing Bus Champion to work predominately on the bus supporting the daily running of the service and assisting the advisors who deliver 1-1 sessions. The purpose of the roles are to engage with the public to promote Public Health priorities in Lambeth and reduce health inequalities. The roles will also involve working from community hubs and events as required by the programme.
The successful candidates will be supported with a qualification in the Royal Society of Public Health Level 2 Award Understanding Health Improvement and in addition other relevant supplemental courses as relevant to the post. We are seeking a team who are passionate about health and enjoy talking with people to support them to access better outcomes. The role will be 21x hours per week and will occasionally involve some evening and weekend work.
