We are searching for an enthusiastic and dynamic Team Leader to influence the transformation of the Healthy Child Programme offer in York. We are committed to maintaining the public health nature of the service and focussing on improving health outcomes for children and young people in York.

The Healthy Child Service Team Leader plays a crucial role in facilitating the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme through effective leadership and development of their team. The Team Leader works collaboratively with the other HCS Team Leaders across 0-19 work programmes to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery across the city of York. The Team Leader role is integral to the success of embedding the 0-19 delivery model.
The post holder will provide the foundations for the work environment and ethos required for their team to function and deliver services effectively through innovative, flexible and child-focussed leadership. Identification of support, training needs and professional development of staff is an essential element of the role to ensure a quality service and to support staff wellbeing and retention.
This role is an intrinsic part of the Healthy Child Service leadership team and will report on a day-to-day basis to the HCS Operational and Quality Manager to ensure professional development and service delivery are clearly linked to population health and public health priorities.
The Team Leader will take a lead role in areas of responsibility to ensure the smooth delivery of the service and service improvements in collaboration with the other HCS Team Leaders.
The post holder will support the team in identification of vulnerable children and young people and participation in multi-agency safeguarding procedures as appropriate to ensure children, young people and their families get appropriate help, support and safeguarding. They will work collaboratively with the Lead Nurse for Safeguarding, Practice Educator and key Public Health Specialists to facilitate staff and service development to improve health outcomes for children.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
