We are recruiting a Highway Depot Operative at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Penmaen / Bedwas Depot

Team: Highway Engineering Group – Network Contracting Services

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organisation.

We pay an attractive salary of £27,964 - £29,064 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

We are looking for an organised and proactive individual to support the delivery of a wide range of highway infrastructure projects. In this role, you will assist across all work streams by issuing materials to the Network Contracting Services (NCS) workforce.

You will be responsible for the effective control and issue of stock materials, small construction plant, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) held within the designated Highway Depot.

A key part of the role is helping to maintain a safe, clean, and well‑managed depot environment, working closely with the Supervisor and Senior Supervisor to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • General computer literacy with knowledge in use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to follow set procedures and instructions.
  • Experience of highway construction or maintenance.
  • Full UK Category B (car) driving licence, to drive a Council vehicle.
