An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housing Income Officer in our busy Rent and Income team for a forward thinking, highly organised and dynamic individual. You will play a crucial role in ensuring financial stability for the council.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Housing Income Officer to join our busy Rent and Income team. Your main duties will be to provide an excellent customer focused service to recover arrears from current tenants. You will work supportively and proactively to effectively collect rent and other charges with a focus on sustaining tenancies. This will involve contacting tenants by letter, phone and frequent home visits; providing debt counselling and welfare benefits advice. You will also be expected to represent the council at court and attend evictions.
You will need excellent negotiation and investigative skills and be able to deal with people sympathetically, sensitively and firmly and be capable of forming effective working relationships with other agencies. You will be well organised, IT literate and able to work well under pressure in order to solve complex problems.
Previous experience in a public sector housing environment and a good knowledge of welfare benefits including Universal Credit would be an advantage.
