Are you passionate about technology? Do you enjoy solving problems and helping people?

We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic IT Technician Apprentice to join our school community and kick-start an exciting career in IT.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience, develop valuable technical skills, and earn a recognised qualification while working alongside experienced IT professionals.

What You'll Be Doing

As our IT Technician Apprentice, you'll play a key role in supporting the technology that helps our school run smoothly every day. You'll learn how to:

  • Support and maintain computer networks, hardware and software
  • Help manage Microsoft 365 and online systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues for staff and students
  • Set up and maintain laptops, desktops, printers and other devices
  • Work with external IT support partners and suppliers
  • Deliver excellent customer service while providing technical support
  • Support the development and maintenance of school ICT systems

No two days will be the same, and you'll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of technologies supporting our students and staff.

Your Apprenticeship

During the apprenticeship (typically 18 months), you'll work towards the Information Communications Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship through our training provider, Babington College.

You will receive:

  • A dedicated Apprenticeship Trainer
  • Regular virtual coaching sessions
  • Formal reviews and observations every 12 weeks
  • Ongoing support throughout your learning journey
  • A nationally recognised qualification

You may also be required to complete Functional Skills in Maths and English, depending on your existing qualifications.

We're seeking someone who:

  • Has a genuine interest in technology and IT
  • Enjoys solving problems and learning new skills
  • Is friendly, approachable and enjoys helping others
  • Has good communication skills
  • Can work independently and as part of a team
  • Is organised, reliable and eager to learn

Previous IT experience isn't essential. Enthusiasm, curiosity and a positive attitude are what matter most.

To apply, please visit the Trust website - East Midlands Education Trust - Vacancies and complete the online application form. On the application form, please focus on a detailed 'supporting statement' taking into account the person specification and indicating why you would be the best person for us to recruit to this position.

If you have any questions or would like an informal discussion about the post or would like a tour of the school, please contact the school office on 0115 9387000 or by email at hr@kimberleyschool.co.uk

The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post, will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safeguarding checks will be undertaken during the recruitment process and this may include online searches.

Closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 26th October 2026.
