ICT Senior Officer
Directorate: Corporate Services
Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week
Come and join our team here in Rotherham! Our Server and Storage team keeps the Council’s digital services running behind the scenes. We look after the systems that let colleagues sign in securely, the servers and virtual desktops they work from, and the storage that keeps the Council’s information safe and available. When we get it right, colleagues across every Council service can do their jobs and residents get the support they rely on. You’ll find a supportive team that learns from each other, with regular one-to-ones with your manager and a generous holiday allowance.
We offer hybrid working, with a mix of home and office. Under the Council’s working location policy, full-time staff attend a Council work location in the Borough for a minimum of three days a week, depending on the needs of the role. A flexible working policy is also in place.
As a Senior Officer, you’ll be a hands-on expert in the systems that keep the Council running, from sign-in and security to servers, storage and virtual desktops. You’ll solve tricky problems, make things better and play a part in upgrade projects as we modernise our technology and move more services to the cloud. You’ll help protect our systems and data from cyber threats, write clear guides for your colleagues and work with suppliers and other teams. You may also be asked to join our out-of-hours cover.
You don’t need to have used everything we use. If you have experience looking after Windows servers and the systems people, use to sign in, and have worked with some of VMware, NetApp storage, Citrix or Microsoft Azure, we would love to hear from you. Good problem-solving, clear communication and a keen interest in keeping information secure matter just as much. A relevant qualification or equivalent work experience will do.
If you want to make a real difference to the services people in Rotherham rely on, please apply. When submitting your application, please remember to give examples in the ‘Skills and Experience’ section of how you meet the essential shortlisting criteria listed in the Job & Person Profile.
