1 full time vacancy for an Improvement Delivery Officer role has arisen this is a 3 year fixed term post within the Early Years Team.

You will be expected to :

  • To effectively manage and lead key change projects and service improvement work programmes across the Department.
  • To support the delivery of Childrens' Services priorities and strategies.
  • To undertake specific projects, research, analysis and produce reports on behalf of the Head of service, and the Senior Leadership Team.
  • To support the logistical preparations and ongoing inspection readiness in relation to external scrutiny, including Ofsted and sector-led improvement programmes for Childrens' Service specific to Early Years and Family hubs.
  • To support delivery of the quality assurance framework and other assurance mechanisms to enable progress on improvement to be evidenced.
  • To liaise with stakeholders within and outside of the Council to support the above.


The Improvement and Delivery Officer is required to:

  • To effectively lead, project manage and co-ordinate significant projects and work across Early Years and Family Hubs.
  • To develop, maintain and review robust project plans to ensure delivery of objectives in a systematic and timely manner.
  • Lead on the delivery of improvement programmes linked to agreed priorities, including the scoping, planning, implementation and review of work programmes within the Council, reporting at a GM, regional and national level .
  • To review and report on the delivery of workstreams and projects to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • To produce briefings, presentations and formal reports appropriate for identified target audiences including Scrutiny, Council and Lead Member briefings.
  • To support relationships and co-production across the Partnerships and voluntary sector in Bury.
  • To maintain a sound understanding of national, regional and local developments that may impact on the Department, ensuring the Senior Leadership Team are appropriately briefed.


You must

  • Graduate level qualification or equivalent substantial experience
  • Project Management Qualification (or significant experience of project management and willingness to achieve a relevant agreed qualification)
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and develop joint objectives with stakeholders and senior decision makers, and collaboratively achieving these objectives through effective relationship management.
  • Experience of working in a programme / project management environment
  • Experience of working in a high-pressured environment using initiative and managing and prioritising workloads within strict deadlines and timescales


You will report directly to the Early Years Service Manager and Lead for Family Hubs - Collette Radcliffe

You will work across the borough of Bury within our 5 neighbourhoods.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis with some evening and weekends.
