Job summary
Dstl is seeking a committed and safety‑focused Incinerator Operator to join a small, dedicated shift team responsible for running a high‑hazard incinerator facility at Porton Down.
You will play a vital part in ensuring that waste is processed efficiently, safely, and sustainably, supporting Dstl’s wider scientific and operational mission.
Working under the direction of the Duty Shift Leader, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the facility, ensuring that all activities are carried out in line with strict safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Job description
In this role you will:
Handle, move and process clinical / chemical and hazardous waste.
- Undertake routine Incinerator site (non-intrusive) maintenance tasks.
- Undertake mandatory and role specific training including
- Working at Height.
- Confined Space
- First Aid at Work.
- Use forklift trucks and lifting equipment.
- Work to relevant safety and site procedures.
- Work to relevant quality standards
- Work shifts including night and weekends.

Important Information
