We are recruiting an Information Governance Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37
Contract Type: Full Time, Fixed Term until 31st December 2027
Location: Penallta House / Home working / Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

The main purpose of this role is to help ensure the Council complies fully with its statutory obligations in respect of information rights legislation (Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations and Data Protection - Subject Access Rights requests), so applicants can access the information they are entitled to. This will involve managing a large caseload of requests which must be answered within tight statutory deadlines.

The postholder with be required to identify exemptions to the right of access, researching guidance and case law, present recommendations, and draft explanations of exemptions applied for applicants. The post holder will also encourage the proactive publication of information within the Council and will contribute to broader information rights casework.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A relevant Level 3 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales.
  • The ability to work under pressure, organise and prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in providing advice on Freedom of Information legislation and handling requests for information in compliance with information rights laws.
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the county borough when required.
