Woking Borough Council is seeking an Information Governance Officer who will play a vital role in providing high standards of support to the Legal Services Team to ensure compliance with UK General Data Protection Regulation and other key governance legislation and regulatory frameworks. This is an important opportunity to lead on support for the Council in maintaining high standards of data integrity and transparency across all its functions.

In this role, you will be:

  • responsible for processing and responding to Freedom of Information and Data Protection requests
  • lead the support for investigations into data breaches
  • provide expert advice on impact assessments and ensuring audit compliance
  • provide expert advice to council officers and members

You will also be central in developing and delivering training programmes, ensuring staff are equipped with the knowledge to handle data responsibly and securely. You will need to have strong IT skills, excellent communication abilities and a detailed approach to the role. The Council offers in return:
