This post is within the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Healthcare Associated Infection (HCAI) Division. The mission of the division is to protect people from healthcare-associated and antimicrobial resistant infections, through world-leading public health microbiology, outbreak response, surveillance, antimicrobial stewardship, modelling, research and interventions.

Job description
Main duties of the job & Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The postholder will work as part of the AMR & HCAI Service based in Colindale, London. They will carry out data collation and validation and database management duties associated with the AMR &HCAI Service. The post-holder will be required to ensure the timely collection of data from external data providers; be involved in data cleaning and manipulation; support the timely production of reports and internal and external requests for information; carry out general information and data analysis tasks and administrative tasks such as meeting planning and minute taking.
Data collection and management
- Maintenance and development of databases
- Monitor data submissions to ensure data archive is complete.
- Process data submissions and ensure all data errors are processed in a timely manner.
- Maintain and improve data quality through validation and reconciliation.
- Collation and summary of data using standard software packages
Data Analysis and report production
- Assist with the analysis of scientific data using standard information, statistical software packages and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Assist with the production of regular epidemiological outputs for UKHSA.
- Create, follow and regularly review Standard Operating Procedures
- Respond to information requests and provide ad hoc data reports as and when required.
Data Governance & Quality
- Be aware of, and put into practice, all policies and procedures to maintain confidentiality of patient information. To ensure data confidentiality and security in compliance with UKHSA policies, the Data Protection Act, and other statutory requirements and principles in the handling, secure storage and dissemination of data
- Collaborate with other parts of UKHSA to support system wide audits across a range of public health programmes through data extraction and basic analysis

Role Criteria and Other Requirements
Essential role criteria (including qualifications, licenses and registrations):
- Experience in data management, handling, analysis and reporting
- Using computers and good working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Understand information governance issues including an awareness of data protection and confidentiality requirements
- Communicate proactively, accurately and succinctly with the ability to negotiate in a friendly and tactful manner with a wide range of health, IT and academic professionals

Eligibility Criteria - External

Location
This role is being offered as hybrid working based at our Scientific Campus in Colindale (London). We offer great flexible working opportunities at UKHSA and operate using a hybrid working model where business needs allow. This provides us with greater flexibility about how and where we work, to get the best from our workforce. As a hybrid worker, you will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of your contractual working hours (approximately 3 days a week pro rata, (averaged over a month).
If based at one of our scientific campuses, you will be required to have a minimum of a Counter Terrorism Check security vetting check as a minimum. For meaningful National Security Vetting checks to be carried out individuals need to have lived in the UK for a sufficient period of time. You should normally have been resident in the United Kingdom for the last 3 years as the role requires Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) clearance. In exceptional circumstances UK residency less than the outlined periods may not necessarily bar you from gaining national security vetting and applicants should contact the Vacancy Holder/Recruiting Manager listed in the advert for further advice.
Future location
UKHSA is investing in a new state-of-the-art National Biosecurity Centre in Harlow, Essex, which will eventually bring together teams currently based at Canary Wharf, Colindale and Porton Down. For more details, please see: Huge biosecurity centre investment to boost pandemic protection - GOV.UK.
The new facilities will start becoming operational in the mid-2030s, with full completion by 2038. Staff will move in phases as facilities become available. If you're appointed to a role currently based at Canary Wharf, Colindale or Porton Down, please note that we'll continue investing in these sites for the next decade.
