North Lanarkshire Council is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Infrastructure Support Assistant to join our Telecoms and Infrastructure Team on a 23-month fixed-term basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an aspiring ICT professional to develop their skills within a large and complex enterprise environment.
This is an exciting development opportunity for someone who already has some experience working within ICT infrastructure, networking or telecommunications and is looking to take the next step in their career.
You will work alongside a highly skilled team of infrastructure specialists supporting critical Council services and delivering modern technology solutions across North Lanarkshire.

This role provides an excellent foundation for progression into senior infrastructure, networking or communications positions.
About the Role
As an Infrastructure Support Assistant, you will support the implementation, maintenance and development of the Council's ICT networking and communications infrastructure. Working closely with experienced Infrastructure Support Officers, you will assist in delivering secure, resilient and high-performing technology services that support thousands of users across the Council.
You will be involved in:
- Supporting networking, wireless and communications solutions across Council sites.
- Assisting with the deployment and commissioning of ICT infrastructure projects.
- Providing 1st and 2nd line support for network and telecommunications services.
- Supporting Cisco Webex and Unified Communications platforms.
- Diagnosing and resolving infrastructure faults and service issues.
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Working with suppliers, partners and internal stakeholders.
- Supporting cyber security and compliance initiatives.
- Contributing to the delivery of major ICT projects and service improvements.
We are looking for someone who already has some practical experience within an ICT support, networking or infrastructure environment and who is keen to develop their technical skills further.
You should have:
- SVQ3, HNC or equivalent qualification in an ICT-related discipline.
- Experience supporting ICT infrastructure or communications technologies.
- Knowledge of networking principles including LAN, WAN and wireless technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and technical documentation skills.
- A proactive and customer-focused approach.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Experience or exposure to any of the following would be advantageous:
- Cisco Wireless solutions

- Cisco Webex
- Unified Communications and IP Telephony
- Structured cabling and fibre technologies
- Datacentre technologies and virtual switching environments ]

As an Agile worker your main base will be Motherwell Civic Centre however this role is predominately field based and will require you to visit various Councils sites around North Lanarkshire, including educational establishments.
You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member through Disclosure Scotland and obtain a satisfactory membership check prior to commencing in this role.
