Exciting things are happening within Digital Services at Derbyshire County Council and we’re looking for an Infrastructure Support Engineer to join our team.

A major review of our organisation and strategies has been completed, and we have invested in new tools to support a comprehensive and innovative Digital Services transformation programme, to support the delivery of key services to the residents and communities of Derbyshire.

This role will be pivotal in helping us deliver our transformation programme, as a key post within the Digital Services, Technical Services, Operations Team function, providing a technical lead across services. This includes supporting the Council’s New Ways of Working programme and ensuring that the Council’s services are fit for purpose. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has significant experience of operating at a medium level in a large Digital Services environment, managing and delivering change and who really wants to make a difference.

This role within Derbyshire County Council will be based within a dynamic and challenging environment, working on varied assignment and countless opportunities to apply your knowledge and work as part of a multi-disciplined team, providing technical expertise and high-quality services.

The primary duties will include the support, maintenance, and configuration of the Councils Digital Services, working closely with service owners and service users to identify and develop solutions for problems and carry out 3rd line support and maintenance activities

The role requires technical awareness and knowledge of the following areas:

  • Practitioner knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Operating systems in a Virtualised environment
  • Working knowledge Microsoft 365 support experience. (Email, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networks.
  • Working knowledge of supporting activities for GPO/AD/MDM/DNS
  • Working knowledge of Cloud Platforms; desirable Microsoft Azure
  • Scripting knowledge, e.g. PowerShell
  • Knowledge of Monitoring & Tooling solutions
  • Knowledge of Security solutions
  • Linux experience desirable but not essential
  • Ability to own complex problems and see them to resolution
  • Polite, confident, and effective communicator

Our Digital Services Team is contractually based in Matlock, Derbyshire, but we work on a flexible basis which includes options for home working with an expectation for at least one day per week at County Hall, Matlock.

You must be able to provide proof of right to work in the UK.
