We work with some of the most vulnerable young people in England and Wales, providing secure care, education and specialist support to help them build safer, more positive futures.

As an Interventions Worker you’ll work as part of our specialist team, supporting young people to understand their behaviours, manage risks and develop the skills they need to build safer, more positive futures. This is a 12 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave.

What will you do?

You’ll use your skills and experience to:

  • Deliver high-quality 1:1 and group interventions tailored to individual needs.
  • Complete assessments and contribute to care, risk and intervention planning.
  • Help young people explore and understand offending, risk-taking and high-risk behaviours.
  • Build positive, professional relationships that encourage trust, engagement and change.
  • Work creatively and confidently with young people who may have experienced trauma and significant challenges.
  • Work alongside a multidisciplinary team including care, education, health and other professionals.
  • Share your knowledge and expertise, supporting colleagues and contributing to best practice across the home.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is passionate about working with young people and believes that change is possible, even when things feel challenging.

You'll need:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline and experience in youth justice, social care or therapeutic interventions.
  • A good understanding of trauma, attachment and child development.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm and constructive in challenging situations.
  • A positive, proactive approach and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.

We provide secure care, education and specialist interventions for up to 20 young people, many of whom have complex needs including trauma, mental health difficulties, substance misuse and neurodevelopmental conditions.

You'll be joining a highly skilled and passionate team where professional development is encouraged, and your ideas and expertise can make a real contribution.

Organisation Benefits

As an employee of Nottinghamshire County Council, you will benefit from:

  • A comprehensive induction programme.
  • Access to significant training, supervision, and development opportunities.
  • A supportive and enthusiastic team environment.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement above statutory requirements.
  • Participation in the local government pension scheme with a 6.5% employer contribution.
