We’re recruiting for an IT Service Continuity Analyst here at Justice Digital, Data and Science to be part of our warm and collaborative Service Resilience team.

The Justice Digital, Data and Science team designs, delivers and supports the core infrastructure and systems that enable End User Compute Services and line of business applications for over 100,000 Ministry of Justice users across over 800 locations.

The IT Service Continuity Analyst supports the delivery of IT Service Continuity for the services for which Justice Digital, Data and Science is responsible and the development and maintenance of the IT Service Continuity strategy, processes, and plans and procedures.

This is an exciting time for IT Service Continuity within Justice Digital, Data and Science. Recruitment for this role will support the implementation of our programme of work to transform the quality of the service that our function provides to deliver a comprehensive IT SCM portfolio, adding considerable value to our direct customers in the MoJ and, by extension, to the UK’s taxpayers. You will have the opportunity to play a significant role in implementing that service and be crucial to its support and continuous improvement in live operation.

Please note the successful candidate will be expected to travel, when required, to our central London and Canary Wharf offices for in-person meetings. This supports effective face-to-face collaboration with colleagues in the IT Service Continuity Management Team and the wider Service Resilience Team.

You will support the IT Service Continuity Manager, in partnership with the rest of the team, in the definition, implementation and measurement of a leading-edge service continuity process, including:

  • An innovative methodology to ensure that our business-critical IT services have appropriate resilience and recovery provisions.
  • The adaption/adoption of suitable ITSM tooling to manage our work and enhance our stakeholder collaboration.
  • The improvement of our engagement with the Corporate Business Continuity team, the other Business Continuity Teams within the Ministry and IT Service Continuity Management Teams across Central Government; and
  • Ensuring that our Service Operations Business Continuity collateral is kept up to date and relevant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with our Service Owners to understand the IT Service Continuity Management capability, plans (including testing/exercising)and backup regimes of our most business-critical IT services, ensure that they are recorded accurately and topically and support them in seeking improvements.
  • In partnership with our colleagues from Onsite Support, use our in-house tooling to provide analysis of the continuity vulnerabilities for locally hosted IT services at MOJ sites to enable improvement action, including formal risk management.
  • Collaborate with relevant colleagues within the business and Justice Digital, Data and Science to ensure that ITSC considerations are integral to the development of requirements when new IT services are being framed by way of our new Resilient by Design process, and work with colleagues across Justice Digital, Data and Science to ensure that agreed resilience and recoverability capability, plans and test strategies are successfully delivered prior to live implementation.
  • Support the move to full integration with dedicated ITSM tooling to facilitate efficient and effective management of the IT SCM function and optimum collaboration across Justice Digital Justice Digital, Data and Science and wider MoJ colleagues and external parties.
  • Support the application of best practice and shared experience from the Cross-Government IT Service Continuity Management Forum and the operation of the Forum.
  • Run regular IT Service Continuity Governance and Steering Forums and support Relationship Meetings with Service Owners and other stakeholders to optimise our support to the service that they are providing.
  • Assure the development, maintenance and test of IT Service Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans in the context of the MOJ’s Business Continuity arrangements.
  • Ensure that lessons learned from IT Service Continuity Management/Disaster Recovery exercises and live invocations are effectively applied.
  • Support the planning, conduct and action to apply learned lessons from cyber-exercising for our IT services.
  • Be willing to work towards membership of the relevant professional body, the Business Continuity Institute (BCI).

Person Specification

Essential Experience or Technical requirements:

  • Sound knowledge and proven experience of the operation of IT Service Continuity Management, including Disaster Recovery.
  • Good understanding of what makes IT services resilient and experience of ensuring that the level of resilience is appropriate to the business need that they serve.
  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders at all levels to ensure that the IT Service Continuity Management function collaborates efficiently with our partners in delivering the most effective service possible.
  • Demonstrable awareness of Risk Management practice and the role it plays in effective IT Service Continuity Management.
  • Experience in the use of tooling to support the management and operation of IT Service Continuity Management.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • The ability to absorb new technical, commercial and business concepts quickly, and work with them.
  • A systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • A high-level understanding of a broad range of technology, from devices through to cloud-based services.
  • Competence in use of M365.
  • ITIL Service Management Foundation level (v3 or 4).

Salary Information**

Base salary for this role is from £49,325 - £53,081 (London): £42,914 - £46,182 (National)

  • New entrants to the Civil Service joining the MoJ are expected to start at the minimum of the pay band.
  • Existing Civil Servants moving on a level transfer will retain their current base salary or move to the minimum of the pay band for the role, whichever is higher.
  • Existing Civil Servants who are promoted will either move to the bottom of the new grade’s pay band or receive a 10% uplift, whichever provides the greater increase.
