About the role

North Northants Council’s Technology, Digital and Data service is looking for customer-focused and enthusiastic individuals to join our dedicated and ambitious IT Service Delivery team. With ambitious aspirations and a desire to be an inspirational local government IT service, we are looking for talented individuals to join us on this journey.

We are looking for an experienced IT Service Management Systems and Asset Lead to play a pivotal role in shaping our IT Services - ensuring compliance, appropriate governance and improving the technology experience for thousands of colleagues across the Council.

A fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical system administration, analytics, process improvement and hands-on asset lifecycle management. If you thrive on data, governance, system optimisation and cross-team collaboration, we'd love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

This is a proactive, hands-on and innovative role where you will design, configure and launch new Hornbill (ITSM) functionality, modules and team structures. Always ensuring the system fully supports our ITIL processes and future ways of working.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building new workflows, service catalogues, automations and forms to support emerging teams and improve existing services in Hornbill.
  • Mapping end-to-end user journeys and service flows, ensuring efficient routing, visibility and SLA compliance with an ITIL structure.
  • Developing advanced dashboards, analytics and reporting outputs that highlight performance, asset status, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Managing asset lifecycles, including hardware and software, ensuring accurate registers, CMDB integrity and audit processes.
  • Collaborating under the Service Delivery banner, working with the Service Desk, Infrastructure, Procurement and supply teams to implement data led improvements.

About you

We are looking for an individual who brings a strong blend of technical capability, analytical insight and stakeholder engagement skills.

You will have:

  • Proven experience administering and configuring an ITSM platform.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes and asset management best practice.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills, using BI tools such as Power BI.
  • Ability to create, document and improve processes, policies and workflows.
  • With strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent experience in IT Service Management.

Additionally, we are keen for individuals who have:

  • ITIL Practitioner or higher
  • Asset Management certifications (CAMP, IAITAM)
  • Cybersecurity fundamentals (Security+)

What you will bring:

  • A passion for data quality, governance, and improving services.
  • Confidence to challenge, influence and guide others.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset, working closely with operational and technical teams.
