About the Apprenticeship

The Information Technology world is changing rapidly, and this apprenticeship reflects exactly that. Delivered by LDN Apprenticeships (Ofsted Outstanding), the Information CommunicationTechnician program will give you hands-on experience across different IT systems and working with a wide range of Airport stakeholders.

Your Role at London Luton Airport will Include:

  • Being the first point of contact for our colleagues, airliners, ground partners, and concessionaires on our friendly and busy IT Service Desk
  • Log and track incidents and requests through the ITSM tool, ensuring they are classified and prioritized correctly.
  • Provide remote support to end-users on a wide range of IT issues, including hardware, software, and networking problems.
  • Complete daily checks, such as backups from the night before.
  • Provide support for Microsoft and Office 365.
  • Update and maintain knowledge base articles and internal documentation to assist with common support requests and to improve the efficiency of the support process.

Training & Qualification

You’ll be enrolled in the Level 3 Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship, designed by LDN Apprenticeships. This standard covers everything you need to succeed in today’s IT world — from IT operations, system configuration, data management, and digital transformation initiatives.

  • Duration: 16 months (12-month apprenticeship, 4-month gateway period to prepare for EPA)
  • Delivered by LDN Apprenticeships (Ofsted-rated Outstanding)
  • A-Level equivalent qualification upon successful completion of the apprenticeship
  • 1-1 meetings with assigned skills coach
  • Opportunity to network and learn with other apprentices in monthly live sessions
  • In person development days every 6 months
  • CompTIA Bootcamp – 5 day bootcamp course in preparation of the A+ Certification

The successful apprentice will cover topics such as:

  • Helpdesk Essentials
  • PC Architecture, Installation and Configuration
  • Troubleshooting, Preventative Maintenance and Networking Fundamentals
  • Advanced Networking, Mobile and Peripheral Devices
  • OS Installation, Configuration, Maintenance and Automation

Advanced Security Concepts and Methodology

Qualifications Required/Desirable

Minimum Requirements:

  • English and Maths at GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above, or Functional Skills Level 2 or above

Desired Requirements:

  • Passion in IT, experience of setting up personal computer/s, knowledge of latest technology news and trends
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and keen to widen knowledge in the wider365 suite

Eligibility

  • 5-year checkable work/education history
  • Not currently enrolled on any other courses
  • Aged 18 or over
  • Living in Luton (LU1-LU4)

All apprenticeships are subject to passing enhanced background checks in aviation. The apprentice will be required at all times to perform any other reasonable tasks, as requested by the Line Manager in order to meet the operational needs of the business.
