Job summary

This role provides technical oversight across the full NS&I estate, with an extra focus on data and information across Retail, B2B and Corporate services. It ensures platforms, channels and live services are designed for robust availability, safety, performance and operational maturity, while holding suppliers to the required technical controls and standards.

The postholder is responsible for embedding data and information policies, standards and best practice within IT operations, ensuring that data managed, stored and transferred by suppliers is appropriately governed and controlled.

The role assures that the production estate is aligned to agreed designs and best practice, including architecture, data models and entity models, and that projects are transitioned into live service in line with NS&I policies, standards and intended business outcomesAs a senior technical specialist within the IT Services team, the IT Technical Operations Manager acts as the subject matter expert for data and information within live operations. The role provides technical challenge and guidance on change activity, continuous improvement and business-as-usual operations across the organisation, including identifying and managing legacy technical debt and producing change requests to support its remediation.

The postholder supports the Head of IT Services by strengthening technical oversight across the estate, with a strong focus on risk, audit and the safe introduction of ongoing and new changes into live operations. This includes reviewing service reporting, sharing technical insight and metrics, and improving the oversight process with key stakeholders.

The role also contributes to IT risk and audit management, including internal and external audit activity, ensuring agreed actions are completed to schedule. In addition, it provides expert advice and support across NS&I, suppliers and service teams to help maintain stable, reliable and continually improving IT services for customers and colleagues.

Working collaboratively across the agile IT Services function, the role supports service desk, operational and supplier teams by reviewing incidents, problems and changes from a technical perspective, helping ensure services are delivered in line with SLAs, contractual commitments and business needs.

Salary range
