Job description

As the lead for the College of Policing’s Investigation and Technical Skills Training area, you will be responsible for the delivery of a complex and diverse portfolio of learning programmes in the UK and across international markets. You will play a crucial role and exciting role in maintaining and enhancing the College reputation as the leader in the provision of high-quality, innovative learning across a wide range of specialist policing and law enforcement areas in the UK and internationally.

Person specification

  • Leading the development of an annual training plan for the Investigation and Technical Skills Delivery Area. Ensuring the accuracy of planning and income forecasting. Working collaboratively with key stakeholders across Training, Infrastructure and Operations (TIO) and the wider college to ensure the best possible outcomes for the College and its customers are achieved.
  • Recruiting, retaining, motivating and developing a diverse, inclusive and high performing team. Developing professional career pathways that support employee retention and satisfaction and improve individual performance. You will be responsible for resourcing a complex training programme and will have the oversight of HR and performance management processes for a workforce of secondees, staff and associates.
  • Leading the delivery of an annual quality improvement plan across the Investigation and Technical Skills delivery area. Ensuring that all training materials are regularly reviewed, updated and maintained to the highest possible quality standard and that all training is delivered to the highest possible standard.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • Level 6 or 7 qualification in related subject matter (e.g. Leadership, Law, Criminology etc) or extensive equivalent experience
  • Evidence of ongoing commitment to continuing professional development
  • Level 4 Trainer Qualification (or working towards completion within 12 – 18 months)
  • Current or recent PIP3 SIO
  • Skilled at creating and leading high performing teams, working collaboratively and flexibly across a complex matrix environment
  • Ability to develop financial proposals and business cases and deliver value for money
  • Experience of strategic and workforce planning, performance management and risk management
