The role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and dedicated Learning and Development team as we continue to support the growth, development and transformation of our workforce.

As a Learning and Development Administrator, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day coordination of a wide range of training programmes delivered across the council. From managing course bookings and handling queries to maintaining accurate training records and supporting with evaluations, your work will help ensure a smooth and professional learning experience for all staff.

You’ll work closely with our Learning and Development Partners, liaising with internal teams and external training providers to support the planning, procurement and delivery of learning and development activities. Your responsibilities will include updating our learning management system, processing course payments, and using digital platforms to promote and monitor training. This is a varied and fast-paced role where strong organisational skills and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential to keeping everything running effectively.

Your work will help ensure colleagues across the council have access to high-quality development opportunities that support both individual growth and wider organisational goals.

Key responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage a variety of learning and development activities across the council

• Act as the first point of contact for training queries, providing helpful and responsive support

• Liaise with internal teams and external providers to support the smooth delivery of training programmes

• Maintain accurate training records and update content on the learning management system

• Support the end-to-end process of course administration, including bookings, evaluations, and payments

• Embrace digital tools and systems to enhance the learning experience and improve service delivery

What you’ll bring to the role:

We’re looking for someone who brings a strong mix of organisational skills, customer focus, and a passion for learning and development.

• Experience working in a HR/OD or similar environment providing high-quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders

• A good understanding of the learning and development function within an organisation

• The ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines

• Confident written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail

• Experience coordinating training or projects in a busy team environment• Proficiency with learning management systems and common business IT applications

• An understanding of the importance of accurate data collection and analysis

Additional details

Please note this role is being offered on a fixed term contract basis for a duration of 6 months. We encourage any internal staff to gain agreement from their substantive line manager if considering this as a secondment opportunity.
