We’re excited to announce an additional social work post in the Learning disability and autism team that was launched in June 2024. This is a borough-wide social work team of dedicated individuals who are committed to support adults with Learning disabilities and Autism to lead fulfilling lives with as much independence, choice and control as possible.

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced social worker to contribute to this important work. You’ll be supported every step of the way by a committed management and senior leadership team who will be invested in your success.

As a social worker you will be part of a dedicated team within Sefton’s Adult Social Care department. You’ll play a key role in improving the lives and experiences of people and carers and will work closely with colleagues in health, housing, support services, the voluntary sector and others to develop integrated, person-centred approaches. You will have support and can exercise autonomy to work in partnership with people and their families to make impactful decisions and recommendations.

What does the role look like day to day?

We are a team that is just over a year old and are now looking for another enthusiastic social worker to join us and be a key part of a dedicated team influencing and shaping how we deliver a responsive and effective service for people in Sefton. You will have your own caseload and bring motivation, experience, passion and creativity to the role.

You should have an excellent understanding of the Care Act, associated legislation and Health and Joint funding processes, supported living and strength based approaches. You will complete Care Act assessments , Mental Capacity assessments, make Best Interest decisions, undertake Safeguarding enquiries and risk assessments as necessary and complete reports for court and funding bodies.

What we are looking For

We’re seeking a motivated and compassionate social worker who can work with people in a strength based and high-quality way. You’ll bring:

  • A Social Work degree
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Experience of working in Adult Social Care, ideally in Transitions and with adults with complex needs.
  • Strong knowledge of the Care Act and related legislation
  • Confidence in managing complex, person-centred decisions
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
  • Excellent partnership working skills with health and community stakeholders
  • A passion for continuous learning and professional development
