Job summary

The Cyber and Specialist Operations Command (CSOC) Legacy Operations Processing Team (LOPT) is responsible for absorbing and addressing any residual commercial activity and any administrative work that arises subsequently, on behalf of its component sub-commands from their military activity in operational theatres or in training, where there is no longer operational currency. The team will provide accurate, complete and timely information disclosures to relevant MOD counterparts including the Directorate of Judicial Policy (DJEP) on behalf of component sub-commands.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

The LOPT Sourcing Manager is responsible for accepting requests for information from relevant counterparts and sourcing information records from the various MOD data stores, both physical and digital, that exist centrally and under sub-command control. The Sourcing Manger will understand how best to isolate a full record set for an information request, based on their knowledge of the data stores and their ability for formulate effective search criteria. They are also responsible for the secure transmission of record sets between data stores, the networks that support LOPT and the networks that are utilised by their counterparts. They will contribute to decisions regarding the management of information records between physical and digital storage, local and central control and with regards to record de-duplication, senescence and purge. They will also be responsible for the line management of two members of staff.

Person specification

The individual will have strong analytical skills, a good understanding of information management and data protection. Strong communication skills and an ability to use Microsoft Office is essential. Desirable criteria include experience in reporting and forecasting; redesigning work processes and data transfers within government organisations as well as line management experience.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and working from home as part of a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement. All office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to site capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD workplace, will also count towards this level of office attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.

Candidates will be required to complete an online Numerical Test.

The Civil Service Judgement Test is not bankable and therefore must be taken on every vacancy where it is applied.

Candidates that reach the minimum required pass mark will have their results saved as a banked score against the following tests:

When a candidate has a banked score they’re not asked to re-take the same test providing it is set at the same level. Scores will be banked for a 6 month period from the date of test completion. If a candidate is invited to take the same test against multiple vacancies, the banked score will be recognised against all vacancies and all active applications will progress.

CSJT scores cannot be banked as each test is generated from the behaviours required for a specific role which will vary between recruitment campaigns.
