About the job

Salary: £25,183 - £25,992 a year
Hours per week: 37
Contract type: Permanent

This is an opportunity to be part of a dedicated team that supports licensing functions across the Borough. You’ll be based in an office environment, handling applications, maintaining records, and helping members of the public with a range of licensing enquiries. The role involves working with accuracy and attention to detail, often under pressure, to meet important deadlines.

As part of your day-to-day work, you'll use a range of IT systems, including Word, Excel and databases, and you’ll be expected to follow set procedures to ensure everything runs smoothly. You’ll also support inspections of licensed premises when needed, so a flexible and proactive attitude is important.

Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.

About you

You’ve got experience working in an office and feel confident dealing with people, whether that’s over the phone, in writing, or face-to-face. You’re calm under pressure, able to manage competing deadlines, and you take pride in getting the details right. You’ve worked with the public before and know how to be polite, tactful, and professional in every interaction.

Ideally, you’ve had some exposure to licensing work or worked within a local authority setting. You understand the importance of accurate records, can manage numbers confidently, and you’re comfortable using common software tools to get the job done. You also bring an awareness of licensing law and equality issues, and if you’ve had any relevant training, that’s even better.

This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English
