Make a Difference in Lancaster

Join Lancaster City Council as a Licensing Officer and play a vital role in promoting public safety and community wellbeing.

You will deliver timely advice, conduct investigations, and enforce licensing laws that protect residents and visitors alike. Your work will support a safer, more vibrant Lancaster by ensuring compliance and raising awareness of safeguarding concerns.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll manage your own caseload, carrying out inspections of premises and vehicles, including some outside normal office hours. You will investigate complaints, provide expert advice to the public and licensed trade, and represent the Council in formal proceedings. Working closely with colleagues and partners, you’ll contribute to licensing committees and help shape service improvements.

You’ll Fit Right In If

You have experience in regulatory services and a good understanding of Local Authority Licensing. You’re organised, confident in handling challenging situations, and skilled in communication. Holding a full driving licence, you’re ready to work flexibly and collaboratively, embodying our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership to make a real difference in the community.
