The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Local Land Charges and Street Naming Officer to join our Local Land Charges Team. The Local Land Charges and Street Naming and Numbering Team is responsible for processing Local Land Charges searches, the allocation of official addresses, and the maintenance of the Local Land Charges Register and the Land and Property Gazetteer.

In this role, you will be working as part of the Local Land Charges and SNN team, ensuring an effective and efficient provision of the Local Land Charges & Street Naming and Numbering services. The successful candidate would ideally have a basic understanding of the LLCs and SNN procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the collation, maintenance and updating of the Local Land Charges Statutory register in accordance with processes and guidance
  • Process Local Land Charge search applications, compiling and issuing official search results within service targets.
  • Support the processing of Street Naming and Numbering applications in line with our local and national policy
  • Keep site records and maintain good communication with internal departments
  • Set up and manage spreadsheets and databases to meet LLCs & SNN requirements
  • Support the financial processes for the team and provide accurate and timely information to the LLCs & SNN Manager for monitoring purposes
  • Resolve and respond to enquiries about the service appropriately, escalating to LLC & SNN manager as required
  • Responsible for overseeing the recording of Competent Person Scheme notifications
  • To undertake such other duties as may be determined commensurate with the grade of this post.

Work Style

However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.

This role falls into the category of Flexible Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:

  • 2-3 days in the office
  • Works both from home and the office, depending on the task at hand.
  • Training is provided to help balance work-life and manage time effectively, with an emphasis on communication for team touchpoints and planning in-office days for collaboration.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about Local land charges and street naming and numbering and who possesses the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria:

  • 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English, maths and science
  • Previous work experience in a customer service environment
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Ability to prioritise work and manage own workload to meet agreed deadlines

Desirable Criteria:

  • LLCs or SNN experience would be advantageous
  • A basic understanding and knowledge of the management, analysis and application of GIS and spatial data
