About the team
Hertfordshire Equipment Services is a dedicated service providing and installing specialist equipment to 90,000 Hertfordshire residents with varying medical needs/disabilities. Equipment can range from specialised hospital beds, hoists for people unable to weight bear and various other supportive equipment.
The primary role will be overseeing the LOLER testing for specific equipment that lifts people i.e. slings. HCC are governed under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
(LOLER), for the use of lifting equipment such as cranes and hoists.
About the role
Main areas of responsibilities
The primary role will require testing equipment and ensuring all servicing records are updated electronically:
Checking Slings are fit for purpose and pass the required standard/regulation.
HES has in circulation approx. 3750 slings, and it is essential that these are tested every 6 months throughout the year to ensure HCC are compliant under the LOLER regulations.
Additional daily responsibilities will include the first point of contact for the collection of equipment at Mundells, this will involve interacting with medical professionals and or family members collecting items of equipment and recording this on ELMs.
The duties and responsibilities listed above describe the post as it is at present. The post holder is expected to accept any reasonable alterations that may from time to time be necessary.
About you
Essential:
- Training and qualifications are needed to test lifting equipment. A LOLER qualification is helpful, but we will provide training if you don’t have it.
- Ability to use and navigate the ELMS recording system.
- Strong communication skills — able to explain information clearly and confidently.
- Able to manage a varied workload and meet multiple deadlines.
- Comfortable working both within your own team and across different services

- LOLER qualification
The role is varied, fast paced, and requires initiative and confidentiality at all times.
