Job description
Post background:
This is an exciting time to join JNCC as a Management Information Specialist. We have implemented a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, and are in the process of realising the full benefits of the system – through the production of reports, data dashboards and interfacing our ERP with our wider corporate data functions. This role will act as a reports administrator and super user for the ERP, and as such will lead on supporting and testing future phases of system development.
The post holder will provide data expertise and insights to support core corporate activities, in particular supporting the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) in its objective to enhance leaders’ access to high quality and timely management information. In addition, the post will support JNCC’s annual planning and reporting activities, working across the organisation to support staff in accessing and utilising the data they need to make informed, data driven decisions. In order to provide insightful data reporting across a number of areas, this role will sit in the organisation’s Digital and Data Solutions team, but work closely with JNCC’s PMO, HR and finance teams.
Person specification
Post Duties:
This position will take a leading role in setting policy around portfolio management and reporting, business planning, and management information analysis to support Directors in performing their duties.
• Create and maintain a suite of data dashboards and reports within and, where necessary, outside of, the ERP system, to provide the business and corporate service teams appropriate and readily-obtainable access to the corporate data they require.
• Produce ad hoc, monthly, and quarterly corporate data for both internal and external stakeholders, analysing the data to identify trends and key insights and ensuring compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
• As an administrator and super user of the ERP system, support ongoing delivery capabilities including managing annual updates, and providing problem-solving for reported issues.
• Work with the Governance Team to ensure Joint Committee, DEFRA, and Ministers have up to date performance information for reporting purposes.
• Create tools to streamline business planning and support JNCC’s annual planning process by leading data processing tasks and producing meaningful data outputs to inform decision making.
• Regularly carry out data quality checking and cleansing activities to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and quality of corporate data. Identify the root cause of discrepancies and establish process safeguards or provide training to avoid future occurrences wherever possible.
• Proactively identify trends in support queries, and recommend solutions to reduce these in future, such as process clarification or additional training for staff.
• Work with the business and HR and finance colleagues to gather system improvement requirements and identify, test, document and implement appropriate solutions.
