Job summary
Working in the NHB Office and reporting to Lynsey Burns-Allen, the Manager, NHB Office plays a critical role at the heart of the National Housing Bank’s operations. As part of a small, high-performing and collaborative team, you will support the NHB Chief Executive Officer and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to deliver against ambitious business plan targets and wider strategic priorities.
This role is central to shaping the NHB internal communications and engagement strategy. You will act as the NHB’s Comms and Engagement Lead, ensuring that priorities, progress and achievements are clearly communicated across the organisation, helping to build understanding, alignment and momentum behind the NHB’s mission. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will develop strong relationships across the Agency and NHB.
Lynsey is committed to delivering an excellent, proactive business management function that enables leadership to operate effectively and transparently. You will support this by creating a communications and engagement delivery plan, ensuring that messaging is clear, timely and impactful, and that colleagues feel informed and connected to the NHB’s objectives. You’ll also ensure this aligns to the wider government’s approach to communication plans.
Job description
This is a unique opportunity to help create the communication and engagement approach of the NHB. Alongside supporting the smooth running of ELT and SMT activity, you will take ownership of initiatives such as colleague engagement planning, internal communications channels, and learning and development activity. You will also lead on developing annual communications and engagement calendars, ensuring activities are well planned, consistent and aligned to business priorities.
There are exciting opportunities to bring creativity and innovation to how the NHB engages its people - whether through engagement surveys and action planning, onboarding and induction materials, or internal campaigns that celebrate success and reinforce organisational culture.
Person specification
You will have extensive experience in a business management or internal communications, ideally within a complex or fast-paced environment such as financial services or the public sector. You are confident working with senior leaders and understand the importance of clear, strategic communication in driving organisational performance and engagement.
You are an excellent communicator, with strong written and verbal skills, and a proven ability to translate complex information into engaging and accessible messaging for a range of audiences. You take a proactive and creative approach to communication, always looking for opportunities to improve how information is shared and how colleagues are engaged.
Highly organised and detail-oriented, you are comfortable managing multiple priorities at pace while maintaining high standards. You are confident leading senior-level meetings and producing high-quality materials.
You are also passionate about colleague engagement and culture. You will enjoy taking ownership of engagement surveys and action plans, developing communications that resonate with colleagues, and helping to create an inclusive, collaborative environment where people feel informed, valued and connected to the organisation’s purpose and values.
As a strong collaborator, you build effective relationships across teams and functions, working flexibly and positively to achieve shared goals. You are adaptable, resilient and comfortable operating in an evolving environment, contributing to continuous improvement and helping to shape how the NHB grows and succeeds.
