About this job
To support the maintenance and repair of Council vehicles, plant and equipment while working towards a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. This includes assisting experienced technicians with inspections, routine servicing, and repairs in accordance with DVSA Roadworthiness guidelines. To develop the skills required to accurately complete service and repair records for all work undertaken, ensuring documentation is clear, accurate and completed as part of the learning process. To work in line with all health and safety requirements, learning how to carry out and follow risk assessments, and contributing to maintaining a safe, clean and compliant workshop environment.
About you
We are looking for a motivated and reliable individual who is keen to start or progress a career in vehicle maintenance and repair. You will have a genuine interest in mechanics and a willingness to learn, develop new skills and work towards a Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeship qualification. You should be able to follow instructions, work well as part of a team and take pride in your work. A basic understanding of health and safety and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment is important. You will also need good communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to complete training, college attendance and workplace tasks to a high standard. An interest in working on a variety of vehicles and plant equipment, sometimes in challenging workshop conditions, is essential.
