Job summary

The role
As a Motorcycle Technician at MI5, you’ll be part of a small, dynamic team maintaining and repairing a wide range of motorcycles. As a key part of the workshop, you’ll carry out day-to-day maintenance, repairs, MOTs and modifications, ensuring our bikes are safe, reliable and ready to go. You’ll also:
• provide diagnostic, maintenance and repair services across all our motorcycles
• engage with our parts procurement team and customers
• record work on a database and keep relevant paperwork updated
• use specialist tools and equipment while following manufacturer procedures

Job description

About you
You’re a proactive problem solver who’s equally comfortable working on your own or as part of a team. You’ll hold a City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in motorcycle mechanics and have experience delivering diagnostics, maintenance and repairs across a range of motorcycles. You’ll understand a wide range of repairs, from simple tasks like changing bulbs, wheels, and tyres to more complex work like removing gearboxes and replacing clutches. You’ll also have:
• a full UK motorcycle licence
• practical experience with on-board vehicle diagnostics and the ability to diagnose and repair faults on all motorcycle brands, from minor electrical issues to larger mechanical faults using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and after-market systems
• experience road-testing motorcycles to ensure safety and performance
• confidence in following manufacturer procedures, online systems and specialist tools
• proficiency with IT and Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel and a willingness to keep learning and developing your skills

Selection process details

What to expect
Our recruitment process is fair, transparent, and based on merit. Here is a brief overview of each stage, in order:

1. Application sift, looking at your motivation for the role and the organisation.
2. Telephone interview, which will assess your relevant experience for the role.
3. Assessment Centre, comprised of a competency and a technical interview.
4. If successful, you will receive a conditional offer of employment subject to vetting.
5. You will also need to undergo and pass a medical assessment prior to receiving a final offer of employment.

Please note, you must successfully pass each stage of the process to progress to the next. Your application may take around 6 to 9 months to process including vetting, so we advise you continue any current employment until you have received your final job offer.
