
Multimedia Designer
Job summary
We’re looking for an experienced Multimedia Designer who can quickly turn ideas and complex information into clear, accessible and engaging content.
You’ll bring a broad multimedia skill set spanning graphic design, video, audio, motion graphics, presentations and digital publishing. You’ll understand how layout, typography, imagery, accessibility and user experience work together to create content that is easy to understand and effective for its intended audience.
Job description
Working across a varied portfolio of organisational priorities, you’ll create high-quality content for reports, presentations, our intranet, GOV.UK, colleague communications and other corporate publications. You’ll be comfortable taking broad or developing briefs, quickly identifying the underlying communication need and recommending a creative approach that is effective and proportionate.
You’ll work closely with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders, providing confident professional advice and constructively challenging ideas where another solution would better meet the audience’s needs. You’ll be able to manage competing priorities, work independently and translate briefs into strong creative solutions quickly, combining pace with accuracy, accessibility and attention to detail.
The role offers the opportunity to make a visible contribution across SLC, with a particular focus on supporting internal communications and wider organisational priorities through thoughtful, practical and high-quality multimedia content.

During the interview, you’ll be asked to select one project and spend up to five minutes explaining the brief, your personal contribution, the creative and accessibility decisions you made, and the outcome.
Person specification
Working proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects Premiere Pro, (or in an equivalent design programmes) and O365 products including designing in Word, PowerPoint etc, and video editing software
Highly skilled written and verbal communications and ability use storytelling and visual techniques to explain complicated things simply
Highly developed organisational, time and project management skills to ensure co-ordination of content creation and sign off. Must enjoy the challenge of producing high-quality work while delivering at pace with little requirement for supervision
Demonstratable experience of graphic design, motion graphics, typography and multimedia design for a variety of on and offline channels (websites/intranets, social media etc). Experience of print requirements and deadlines using brand guidelines
Degree, relevant qualification or comparable experience in creative communications
