Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) in Whale Island, Portsmouth, is the nerve centre of the Naval Service. Director Navy Acquisition (DNA) was created to manage and optimise the current resources and expertise in the Navy’s acquisition programmes to professionalise the delivery of complex programmes in Navy Command. It is the Navy’s centre of expertise for leading the delivery of major acquisition programmes. Programmes in our Portfolio are grouped into Programme Management Offices according to the capability being delivered: Ships Acquisition, Support Shipping Acquisition, Equipment & Systems Acquisition, Future Support Acquisition, Commando Force and Defence Maritime Services (Next Generation).

Job description
As Frigates Joint Programme Office (FJPO) Senior Information Exchange Manager you will act as the lead for Information Exchange and Information Management in the UK/Norway Frigates Joint Programme Office and lead for protection of information assets.
To coordinate and support the Type 26 programme SRO, UK Programme Director and Norway Programme Director on matters relating to information exchange, data protection and information management within the international Frigate Joint Programme Office.
As part of the FJPO you will attend the following:
- MOD cross Government meetings as required
- Programme Boards and formal meetings as required.
- The role may require occasional overseas travel
The FJPO Information Exchange Manager is accountable to the T26 SRO and T26 Programme Director as the day-to-day Reporting Officer.
- Develop the FJPO Information Exchange (IX) concept and policy including management of information classification. Lead the FJPO Information Exchange Workstream across all DLODs, engaging and aligning with DE&S Information Exchange, security and commercial protocols.
- Decide, develop and implement a robust, flexible framework, policy and procedures for a shared data environment (SDE) between UK and Norway using emerging and/or proven technologies and approaches.
· Develop processes for transferring information between UK and Norway Government partners and industry ensuring compliance with Secure by Design practices. Manage Requests for Information (RFI) and facilitate the exchange of information with Norway ensuring all information transfer and their approvals are tracked through agreed processes (e.g. AWARD, Defence Share, SDE or whatever solution is endorsed) Co-ordinate security classification of IX including compliance with ITAR, crown licencing, IPR and other restricted information.
- · Establish an information management (IM) strategy including storage and access for the FJPO, Develop and implement a FJPO data and Information Management plan

Person specification
Essential
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
· A strong understanding of secure data exchange protocols and systems particularly in Defence environments
· Knowledge of Information Security principles, including data classification, encryption and secure handling of sensitive information.
· Experience of working on international Defence Projects or with allied nations (particularly NATO partners)
· Proficiency in Data Management tools, secure file-sharing systems and cloud-based collaboration platforms.
· Familiarity with MOD Security policies and international data sharing frameworks.
Desirable
· Familiarity with NATO data exchange standards and protocols
· Knowledge of MOD-specific IT systems and platforms, such as MODNet or other secure networks
· Experience managing complex projects, including stakeholder engagement and reporting.
· Experience implementing new systems or processes within a secure or Defence environment.
· Understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices

Professional qualifications can be achieved through an apprenticeship and range from Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSEs), Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A Levels), and Levels 4 -7, which can give you a foundation degree, a full bachelor’s degree, or a master’s degree. Apprenticeships normally last between 12 months - 3 years, depending on the level of the apprenticeship.
Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and working from home as part of a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement. All office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to site capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD workplace, will also count towards this level of office attendance.
