Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a fast paced ever changing workforce? Commander UK Strike Force (CSF) is a mixed team of Civilian and Military personnel and this post is working within the CSF headquarters in the newly refurbished Old Iron Foundry - a modern new Warfighting Centre. This post will be crucial to the development of the new headquarters and will be playing a pivotal role in establishing the new Operational HQ. Whilst the Headquarters are largely made up of a Military workforce, they are supported by a small and dedicated Civil Service team who are vital to the running of the enterprise.

CSF maintains a globally credible multi-domain and agile command and control, including Carrier and Littoral Strike. We work both nationally and internationally with Allies across the world. We are currently embracing transformation to achieve a joint and efficient enterprise focused on lethality and leading tactical development in order to generate operational advantage and inform the capability need.

HM Naval Base Portsmouth is home to the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy Aircraft Carriers and is well located close to HMS VICTORY and within walking distance of Portsmouth Harbour station and the shopping opportunities at Gunwharf Quays!

The role of the CSF Communications and Information Systems Equipment Manager will carry out tasking led by the Assistant Chief Of Staff Information Warfare (ACOS) in relation to the smooth running of the CSF HQ Equipment and Systems.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

1. To be the Communications and Information Systems (N6) Equipment Manager for CSF Headquarters.

As Equipment Manager, act as the focal point for queries on Communications and Information Systems (CIS) equipment holdings. To maintain accurate and up to date local equipment registers in line with MOD policy, ensuring that all non-MODNET assets including but not limited to Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs), Tablets, Cameras, Printers are recorded when they are received. Liaise with CSF staff to order new CIS equipment when required ensuring all ICT asset requests go through the Navy Digital Request For Change (RFC)and distribute on receipt. Ensure all anti-virus software is updated regularly as directed by MCSU. Issue of CIS equipment to Staff ensuring that it is correctly recorded. Dispose of obsolete or unwanted CIS equipment IAW JSP 440 instructions.

2. To be the IT Security Officer & Media Custodian for CSF Headquarters in accordance with JSP 440 and NCSR.

To act as the ITSO and Media Custodian by managing the Cyber Security of all non-MODNET assets. Provide support to all visits where Cyber assets are involved. Support the USO when a monthly 10% spot check of all Cyber assets is carried out. Ensure all Information and Cyber breaches are correctly reported including assisting with investigations. Ensure that all Cyber related changes across MOD/Navy Command are distributed to all department heads within their AOR. Coordinate, record and manage regular media updates received in support of all areas of the business. Ensure the correct destruction process is adhered to for all superseded or out-of-date media, along with regular 100% musters.

3. To be the Crypto Custodian for CSF Headquarters in accordance with JSP 490.

To Act as Crypto Custodian and maintain the safe custody and accurate records of all Crypto material held on Personal charge complying with MOD/Navy Command policies. Prepare for musters of Crypto and complete documentation for monthly spot-checks to be completed. Crypto Authorise holders checking correct security clearance held, then provide brief to individuals and ensure documentation completed and retained. Holders to be re-certified annually.

4. To be the Above Secret System Administrator

As the Above Secret (AS) Manager ensure full functionality of all RNWFC AS systems. To act in the capacity of Above Secret System Administrator which includes issue of accounts, passwords and control of access tokens.

Person specification

The successful applicant will require good communication and interpersonal skills, MS Office knowledge, including the presentation of information from data sources is desirable.

Be proactive, self-motivated and able to work cohesively with members of the wider CSF Headquarters to meet the needs of a busy 2* Operational Headquarters. They will be able to work reactively and be able to rapidly prioritise work streams as required. They will embrace challenge and be able to manage partners at all levels; nationally and internationally and up to 3* on a regular basis.

The post will require the successful candidate to be able to deliver new and innovative ideas across the business and work within the whole team in an agile manner.

Desirable Experience/Skills:

Previous experience of handling and accounting for Protected Material.
General knowledge of RN/MoD communication systems, capabilities, and equipment.
Working knowledge of MoD Personnel procedures
