Cheshire East Council is seeking a full time, experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our innovative and supportive Occupational Therapy Service.

About the Role

Post holder will be based in the South (Crewe, Sandbach, Congleton, Middlewich, Nantwich). Cheshire East Council operates a ‘flexible and mobile’ working policy and hybrid working is available, with the main base at Delamere House. There may be a requirement to travel across the wider Council footprint.

You will:

• Provide triage, assessment, and intervention for adults with physical, learning disability, or mental health needs, supporting them to remain safe and independent at home through equipment, adaptations, assistive technology, and joint working with partner services.
• Manage a varied caseload, undertaking occupational therapy assessments and interventions where there are moving and handling needs, safeguarding concerns, complex environmental barriers, and care planning challenges.
• Apply sound knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, safeguarding procedures, Disabled Facilities Grants, housing legislation, and assistive technology to support effective decision-making and outcomes.
• Assess for and recommend complex equipment, major adaptations, and assistive technology solutions to maximise independence, safety, and wellbeing.
• Promote strengths-based practice, focusing on prevention, independence, and enabling individuals to achieve outcomes that matter to them.
• Contribute to the supervision, mentoring, and development of less experienced staff, students, and apprentices as required.

About you

• Enthusiastic and well-rounded HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with knowledge of health and social care and are keen to learn and develop their skills in all areas of Occupational Therapy.
• The candidate should be self-motivated with excellent communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and within the occupational therapy team and wider MDT. Organisational skills and time management is key to efficiently managing caseloads.
• The candidate should be able to provide a strengths-based approach to care and understand a variety of conditions and their impact on individual’s daily living.
• It will be essential for the post holder to work autonomously within the Council’s policies and professional practice, in addition to maintaining accurate and comprehensive client documentation.
