Summary of Terms and Conditions of Employment

We are the City of Dedication To Excellence

Personal Assistant and Member Services Officer

City of London Corporation

The City of London Corporation is the City of opportunities, diversity, social impact and commercial influence. Our work touches lives not just in the Square Mile or even in London, but across the UK and beyond. The work we do is a catalyst for economic and social progress and you could play an important part.

As one of three Personal Assistant and Member Services Officers, you’ll provide wide-ranging, proactive support to Members of the City of London Corporation, with a particular focus on Member Services activities.

You’ll lead on our ongoing Member Learning & Development programme, enabling Members to do the best possible job for local residents, businesses and visitors. In line with the Member Learning and Development Strategy 2025-2029, this includes identifying essential, recommended and requested training needs, monitoring participation and ensuring that the Programme achieves value for money.

You’ll also act as a seconder to officers supporting our Standards regime, helping to arrange meetings, circulate information and be a first point of contact.

Supporting the above will include clerking the dedicated Member Development & Standards Sub-Committee, for which you will prepare reports, agendas and minutes and provide governance advice.

You’ll work to administer, implement and develop Member privileges polices, such as the Member Allowance Scheme or the Member Transport Policy, helping to manage these at a day to day level as well as working to amend or establish new policies where necessary.

You will also support your PA and Member Services Officer colleagues in providing personal assistance, administrative and diary management support to senior elected Members of the Court of Common Council where required.

We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrable experience in the creation, delivery and administration of learning and development programmes or similar within a comparable setting. We’re looking for someone who is highly organised yet flexible, with plenty of initiative and the ability to work autonomously. Your IT skills span the Microsoft Office suite and other administrative systems. Crucially, you’re an excellent communicator – whether producing minutes, briefings and correspondence, or liaising with, advising and inspiring confidence in senior people from a range of backgrounds.

When it comes to valuing our people, we have one key goal: to be an excellent employer. We offer a wide range of development opportunities in this most diverse and challenging of organisations. In addition to a competitive salary and membership of the excellent Local Government Pension Scheme, you can look forward to an all-round package of life-improving benefits and offers – from interest-free season ticket and bicycle loans, to discounts on health and wellbeing, arts and culture.

It’s important that you understand the requirements before applying to ensure you are able to meet them. We are committed to considering requests to work flexibly and job share. Requests will be considered by the recruiting manager in line with our policies and business needs.
