
Park Maintenance Officer

Lancaster City Council is looking for a hands-on, practical and community-minded Park Maintenance Officer to help keep our parks, promenade and open spaces safe, clean and welcoming.
From Green Flag parks to the bustling Morecambe Promenade and our popular seasonal Splash Park, your work will be visible every day , heling residents and visitors enjoy high-quality public spaces.
If you take pride in practical work and enjoy being outdoors in all seasons, this could be the role for you.
You’ll provide a visible, approachable presence and occasionally support Friends Groups and volunteers during agreed activities.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone reliable, professional and proactive.
You will need:
Experience working in an outdoor or grounds maintenance environment
Confidence using hand tools and light machinery
A full UK driving licence
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Clear and confident communication skills
It would be great if you also have (or are willing to gain):
NVQ Level 1 in horticulture (or similar)
First Aid at Work
Pool Plant qualification
Awareness of Green Flag standards or environmental legislation
Most importantly, we want someone who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of safe, welcoming public spaces.
What You Need to Know
30 hours per week
5 out of 7 rota including weekends and bank holidays
Outdoor working in all weather
Travel across sites within the district
Manual handling (up to 15kg)
DBS check required

Salary range
- £25,185 - £26,403 per year
